Mr. Taejun Shin

Having graduated from Korea University and Waseda Graduate School of Finance, Taejun started his career at Morgan Stanley, where he created financial models and risk management tools, both of which later became the global template for its real estate investment business.
After 4 years at Morgan Stanley, Taejun joined Unison Capital, the largest private equity firm based in Japan. He managed several investment projects, one of which was awarded as “Exit of the Year in Asia” by Private Equity International. While working as an investment professional, Taejun founded Living in Peace (“LIP”) in 2007, and created the first microfinance investment fund in Japan’s
investment history in 2009 and made investments for MFIs. The NPO also created crowd funding donation platform for orphanages in Japan to improve living conditions of the children. Taejun cofounded Gojo in 2014 and has led the company management, investor relations and investment. Taejun has authored 8 books. His commentaries and interview articles appear most of the business magazines and newspapers in Japan. Taejun is the finisher of long-distance triathlon competition and 1648 km ultra-marathon. Taejun also holds the highest grade of Go, an Asian board game. He was selected as Global Shapers of the World Economic Forum. He is fluent in Japanese, Korean and English and at introductory level in Khmer.

Mr. Lasantha Fernando

Director/ Chief Executive Officer

Lasantha Fernando is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka (FIB SL) and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Colombo (MBA COLOMBO)
He commenced his career with Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB PLC) in 1979 at the bottom of the ladder and progressed to the position in the Corporate Management.
When retiring in 2015, he was the Deputy General Manager Development Banking overall responsible for lending to the SME, Rural, Agriculture and Micro Finance, prior to which he successfully headed the Recovery and Credit Quality Management Division as its Deputy General MANAGER.
Over the 35 years, he has gathered extensive experience in Branch Banking, Corporate Banking, financing SME, Rural, Agriculture and Micro Finance.
Mr Lasantha Fernando also had a one-year stint with Laxmi Bank Ltd Nepal, as its Deputy General Manager on secondment from Hatton National Bank PLC under Technical Service Agreement between the two banks.
He also served in the Boards of Sitma Development Ltd, a subsidiary and of Splendor Media Pvt Ltd an associate company of Hatton National Bank PLC.
Upon retirement, he took up an assignment as Consultant with KPMG Sri Lanka to study and submit a proposal to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the feasibility and recommend a mechanism of setting up an institution to provide Guarantees as Collateral to Banks to support and strengthen the lending to the SME Sector.
At the point of taking up the appointment as Chief Executive Officer at Sejaya Micro Credit Ltd he was an Independent Non-Executive Director of Richard Pieris Finance Ltd and was also a member of the Audit Committee and the Chairman of the Integrated Risk Management Committee.

Chandula Dir

Mr. Chandula Abeywickrema


Chandula Abeywickrema is the Co-Founder of Ath Pavura the first ever TV reality show for Social Entrepreneurs and Impact Investor in Sri Lanka telecasting on the largest national TV network.

He is also the Founder and Chairman of Lanka Impact Investing Network (LIIN) which is the first of its kind agency on impact investing with the purpose of investing in existing and emerging social enterprises, promoting social entrepreneurship across Sri Lanka.

LIIN founded the first ever social impact funds in Sri Lanka in partnership with UNDP and launched platform dedicated for women social entrepreneurs and that promotes gender lens investing.

An accomplished and respected senior commercial banker with lead expertise and experience in retail and development banking. Chandula has a proven track record of over 30 years and is recognized in Asia as an expert in Financial Inclusion. Chandula spearheaded the retail and development banking strategy as the Deputy General Manager of Hatton National Bank (HNB). He has provided management and strategic director of HNB' s SME and Microfinance Portfolio for which he was responsible.

He has served as the CEO of CCC Solutions, the project management arm of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce from 2014 to 2015, as the Consultant Strategy and Marketing for National Savings Bank (NSB) 2016 to 2017 and Regional Development Bank (RDB) 2020.

Chandula has participated in numerous international engagements as an expert in the area of financial inclusion and is the current Chairman of the Banking with The Poor Network (BWTP), Asia' s largest micro finance network. He was also appointed by the Asian Bankers Association (ABA) as the advisor on Financial Inclusion to ABA.

He is the chairman of CSR Sri Lanka the national Apex body for Corporate Social Responsibility, representing the largest number private sector companies.
